February 2021

Dear CAHN Members,

Welcome to 2021! I think… let’s not jinx it.

As your new CAHN president, I am both honored and humbled to take on this new role in serving such an outstanding organization. I want to take a moment though and thank our outgoing president Arvinder Ginda for his dedicated service to CAHN. His leadership over these last 4 years has been unsullied and an inspiration for us all. He faced many challenges during his tenure, but he always faced them head on and courageously. Now to the business at hand.

Although 2020 hit us with an abundance of unexpected and unprecedented trials and tribulations, we all managed somehow to navigate our way through. This meant being resourceful and adapting to change, especially as it related to our in-person training.  As a Board, we had to make the tough decision to cancel our Annual Training Conference.  But in the spirit of ingenuity, we decided to host a few smaller, virtual de-briefs that were generally well received. We are still committed to bringing forward the most cutting edge, interesting and meaningful training we can find as you will see later this year.

I believe that 2021 will present its own set of unique challenges, but we will continue to be the resilient human beings we all are! My hope is that we can indeed meet once again for in-person trainings in the very near future.  I pray for the safety and well-being of our members as we face the unknown future. But with this uncertainty comes a great opportunity for growth and change. As said by the great philosopher Socrates, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Let us continue to build!

Angela Averiett

CAHN President
