Fall 2020

Dear CAHN Family,

I hope and pray this message finds you all well.  As we find ourselves going through these tumultuous times, we continue to wonder and question when there will be a moment of relief.  Everything from our daily routines, to work, life and relationship balance has been interrupted in ways we’ve never experienced.  There is a quote that reminds me of what is happening, and it was said by H.P. Lovecraft “The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”  We are all in a profession where we like to have all of the answers and often will work endlessly in order to find the answer to the unknown.  However, we have all been thrown into trials and tribulations where the answer to “when will we return to normality” is something we are seeking without a real response.  The truth is everyone is affected in our own way to the core and we all react to these times in our own way; for better or worse.  So why do I share these thoughts and ideals with you as a parting word from this position as President of CAHN?  Because I was really hoping that I would have been able to see you at our annual CAHN Conference this year and share a drink or two with you, albeit it would have been a proper diet coke in a shot glass.  None the less it would have been much more of a joyous occasion than having to reflect on these times in such a disappointing way.

As all of you continue to do your jobs and try to make the best of the situation at hand, I wanted to take a moment and thank all of you for allowing me the opportunity to be the President of such a wonderful organization as this.  The last four years have been both challenging and difficult, however they have also been a time of growth and understanding having learned a lot from this experience.  I also want to thank my CAHN Board for all their support and understanding while I learned this job to best serve you.  I originally took this position on to add value to the training that is provided by this association.  I feel that I would not have been successful without the support of all of you and the Board that stood by my side as we did our best to provide you some of the best training opportunities.  We’ve had some fun crazy times at these training venues; however, we’ve also developed friendships that have remained intact over these years.  I hope to remain involved with CAHN as I continue to navigate through my career with the FBI.  As the new President is elected and new Board members are brought onto their respective positions, I can assure you that you are in the hands of some of the finest negotiators in our profession.  Until we meet again…

Phir Melange Dost,

Arvinder “Vinny” Ginda

CAHN President
