As we
are fast approaching our Annual Training Conference, I wanted to let you know
your Board is working hard to plan an impressive conference this year. As
most of you know we are fortunate to be able to return Monterey, CA for this year’s
events. The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel
and Spa which happens to be located on Del Monte Golf Course. I believe it’s
been over 10 years, since we have been at this venue and I am excited to
say that with all of the modern changes; we are in for an exciting opportunity
to enjoy the surroundings. We will also be celebrating 30 years of CAHN
during this event. The CAHN Board has selected multiple ways to honor and
celebrate our 30 years of being one of the largest negotiator associations in
the US. We are thankful to be able to celebrate a milestone such as this
by thanking some of the original plankowners- as the terms goes.
Additionally, I am
happy to announce that CAHN will be hosting our partners from NCNA (National
Council of Negotiation Associations) which is comprised of 21 negotiation associations
throughout the United States. This type of partnership with other
associations allows CAHN and its membership to have access to some of the
leading experts in the world of crisis negotiations. We are privileged
and honored to be able to host the NCNA representatives this year in Monterey
during our conference. This opportunity will allow us to not only celebrate
our 30 years, but it will also showcase our conference on a national level to
the attendees.
We are expecting to
exceed our numbers of a normal conference due to the location, venue and
selected speakers. As always, the CAHN Board is hard at work scouring the
domestic and international pool of speakers on hostage/crisis
negotiations. We will have a variety of speakers discussing case
debriefs, current trends, and international perspectives
on negotiations. This will certainly be a conference you will not
want to miss. The hotel rooms at the Hyatt are limited and we have
identified an overflow hotel nearby. I would recommend making your
reservations and registering early for the conference.
On a final note, it is
with a heavy heart I report that one of our board members, Treasurer Penny
Anti's mother passed away on January 25th, 2019. Please keep
Penny and her family in your prayers as they continue to heal in this difficult
time. As always, please be safe and ‘til we meet again.
