I would like to
take a few moments to extend my condolences to the officer’s families who lost
loved ones, 10 since the beginning of this month. One very disturbing loss occurred just
yesterday in the city of Vallejo. An off
duty City of Richmond officer was killed in his own home by a family member
after an apparent domestic dispute. It
just goes to show we can never, never let our guard down. Their families and extended families are in
our thoughts and prayers!
Your Conference
Chair is busy putting together another great conference for the
membership. We will again be in Anaheim
for 2016. We are searching other venues
as we have reached capacity at the Embassy Suites. I would like to thank Jessica Haydis, Erica
Perez and Stephanie Koch for their excellent service they have provided to us
for the past several years. They have
provided a great venue, good food and entertainment for our conference and
membership.
Your board has
been hard at work looking for new venues that can accommodate our group, as it
appears to be increasing yearly. Having
said that, we have signed a contract for the 2017 conference at the Peppermill
in Reno, Nevada. The venue there is
large enough to accommodate CAHN as we grow and provide cost effective
selections for conferences. We will be
looking to going back to alternating North/South so we may be able to serve all
of our members. The Peppermill offers
less expensive rooms, free parking, and cheaper meeting space. For the administrators out there; the
conference room is located on the second floor, where the elevators to the
rooms are. Soooooo the attendees do not
have to pass the casino floor to access the conference space. I don’t see that as an issue as we have had
Disneyland for the past several years and our members have attended class
without any problems. Several other
associations are hosting their conference in Reno this year; CATO and CNOA to
mention a few. I think this will be a
good experience and location for us for the near future as their costs appear
to be more reasonable than what California offers. Stay tuned for more info on the 2017 and 2018
conferences. Mark your calendars for the
2017 conference dates as they are SEPTEMBER 16TH THROUGH THE 22ND
of 2017, not the last full week of September.
I look forward to
seeing everyone that can make Anaheim this year.
As always this is
your association, please contact any board member with suggestions or input you
may have.
Have a great rest
of the year and watch your six!
